Records--Sparks 2-0, Sol 0-1.

Record vs. Sol (2001)--1-0.

Update--Miami, which lost its season opener against Minnesota on Tuesday, 66-63, had already sustained a bigger loss when starting 6-foot-5 center Ruth Riley broke her right little finger on Sunday. She is expected to be out at least four weeks. Coach Ron Rothstein’s starting lineup was disrupted before Riley’s injury. Guard Sandy Brondello sat out the Sol’s exhibition schedule because of a foot injury (she did play 11 minutes Tuesday, scoring two points), and forward Elena Baranova did not return from Europe. The Sol struggled Tuesday, with only two starters scoring in double figures. One of them was newcomer Tamara Moore, who set a first-game rookie record with 22 points. Lisa Leslie, who had 16 double-doubles last season for the Sparks, has two in two games.
