Gondoliers Stage Grand Protest, Blocking Canal

Hundreds of gondolas blocked Venice’s Grand Canal to protest street vendors who gondoliers say harass and drive away their customers. About 200 gondoliers refused to take passengers and gathered before City Hall.
Scores of vendors work along the waterways every day, selling clothes, bags and souvenirs.
