From Times Wire Reports

Pakistan’s election commission announced the apportionment of 60 parliamentary seats reserved for women, with a party allied with President Pervez Musharraf gaining the most. The seats were given out roughly on the basis of the percentage each party won in the Oct. 10 general election. Women make up nearly half of the 147 million people in the poor Islamic nation.

It will be the first time that women are represented in such large numbers in the 342-seat National Assembly.
