A ferry packed with more than 200 passengers sank off Indonesia’s eastern city of Ambon, leaving five people dead and 73 missing, officials said.

Government spokesman Martin Luther Djari said 127 passengers were hospitalized as search efforts continued.

He said all the passengers were Muslim but insisted that the sinking was an accident and had nothing to do with more than three years of deadly local Muslim-Christian unrest.
