* Kohl’s Corp. said third-quarter net income increased 33% to $133.4 million, or 39 cents a share. Sales rose 22% to $2.14 billion.

* CMS Energy Corp. said third-quarter net income was $23 million, reversing a loss a year earlier when the company wrote down the value of some businesses by $613 million. Net income was 16 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $569 million, or $4.29, in the year-earlier period. Revenue was unchanged at $1.33 billion.

* Liberty Media Corp. said its third-quarter loss narrowed to $74 million as companies in which it holds stakes posted smaller losses. The net loss of 3 cents a share compared with a loss of $215 million, or 8 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 0.8% to $525 million.

* Starbucks Corp. said fourth-quarter earnings rose 9.8% to $58.5 million, or 15 cents a share. Sales rose 25% to $865.2 million.

* The two pioneers of the satellite radio business, XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. and Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., reported large third-quarter losses and difficulties in finding financing. XM lost $109.6 million, or $1.26 a share, on revenue of $5.5 million. Sirius lost $108 million, or $1.56 a share, on revenue of $17,000.
