JFK Assassination Car Auctioned for $225,000

The Lincoln Continental convertible that President Kennedy was riding in when he was assassinated in Dallas in 1963 sold for $225,000 at an auction in New York City.

The buyer, who was not present, was not identified.

Kennedy car -- A brief that ran in Section A on Nov. 17 incorrectly stated that the Lincoln Continental that President Kennedy was riding in when he was assassinated in Dallas in 1963 had been sold at an auction. The limousine is in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich. The car sold at the auction was one Kennedy had ridden in earlier in the day.

Other Kennedy items that sold at the auction held at the New York Historical Society included a wooden rocking chair that went for $80,000 and a watercolor he painted that fetched $30,000.
