Border Patrol Agent Convicted of Smuggling
From Times Staff Reports
A veteran U.S. Border Patrol agent faces up to three years in prison for attempting to smuggle two undocumented immigrants into the United States.
A federal court jury deliberated three hours before finding Steven Joseph Flores, 48, guilty Monday of three felony counts. Sentencing was set for Feb. 3.
Flores, a senior-level agent stationed in San Clemente, was arrested in June as he drove through the San Ysidro Port of Entry with his wife and a Mexican man and woman.
