* The Bronfman family cut its stake in Vivendi Universal below 5% through a series of open-market share sales on the Paris stock market during August and September. The Bronfmans sold 5.78 million shares with a market value of almost $71 million, according to a regulatory filing.

* Hobey Truesdell, a restructuring expert who oversaw the liquidation of Drexel Burnham Lambert, was named trustee in the Napster bankruptcy.

* AT&T; Corp. picked Betsy Bernard, head of the company’s consumer unit, to be president once the sale of its cable television business to Comcast Corp. is completed. Bernard, 47, will succeed David Dorman, chosen in July to replace C. Michael Armstrong as chief executive.

* Aquila Inc. said Chief Executive Robert K. Green resigned after nine months of running the utility and energy company founded by his great-grandfather. Green, 40, will be replaced by his brother, Chairman Richard C. Green Jr., 48.

* Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will replace Samir G. Gibara as chief executive, effective Jan. 1, with Robert J. Keegan, currently president and chief operating officer. Gibara will remain chairman.

* The Food and Drug Administration has approved Allergan Inc.’s Avage cream for the treatment of facial wrinkles and skin discoloration.
