Presidential Candidates in Tight Race, Poll Says
Poll results showed millionaire businessman Alvaro Noboa and former President Rodrigo Borja in a tight race ahead of nine other candidates in Ecuador’s presidential election.
The Cedatos-Gallup firm said support for Borja, a center-left social democrat, rose from 16% two weeks ago to 18%, while Noboa’s support dropped from 17% to 15% in the same period.
Ecuadoreans vote Sunday to elect a successor for President Gustavo Noboa, who is not related to Alvaro Noboa. If no candidate wins an outright majority, a runoff between the top two will be held Nov. 24.
