Montenegrin Statehood Getting Electoral Boost

An independence-minded coalition led by President Milo Djukanovic won the general election in the coastal Yugoslav republic of Montenegro, according to a projection of the outcome.
Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists and its Social Democrat allies gained an absolute majority of about 39 seats in the 75-seat assembly, a local election monitoring agency said.
A bloc favoring closer ties with Serbia, Yugoslavia’s main republic, was winning 30 seats.
