It’s a Sin

I was appalled to read that the younger, more conservative priests are more likely to regard the use of condoms to prevent AIDS as a sin (“Young Priests Hold Old Values,” Oct. 21). A sizable portion of those who get AIDS from unprotected sex are the babies who are born as a result of not using protection. Apparently these priests think it’s preferable for babies to be born with AIDS than for people to disobey church regulations. It sounds like the Catholic Church’s headlong rush back to the Middle Ages under John Paul II is accelerating.
