Flier With Weapon Held Pending Charges
From Times Wire Reports
A Swedish man suspected of planning to hijack an airliner was ordered to remain in custody pending formal charges.
Kerim Sadok Chatty, 29, was detained on preliminary charges of planning to hijack a plane and illegal possession of a weapon.
Defense attorney Nils Uggla has strongly rejected any association with terrorism.
He said that Chatty, a Muslim convert whose mother is Swedish and father is Tunisian, denies any intention of hijacking the plane.
