A Texas grand jury indicted Houston’s police chief on a felony perjury charge, prosecutors said.
Chief Clarence Bradford, who commands 5,400 officers in the fourth-largest city in the U.S., was charged with allegedly lying under oath during a disciplinary hearing, Harris County assistant district attorney Don Smyth said. If convicted, Bradford could be sentenced from 2 to 10 years in prison, but would also be eligible for probation, Smyth said.
