Phony Cabbies Arrested in Mexico Airport Scheme
Associated Press
MEXICO CITY--Police last month broke up a gang whose members posed as taxi drivers at the Mexico City airport to rob tourists, authorities said.
Police caught a driver and another man who robbed three Brazilian tourists of their passports and $2,000 along a main road leaving the airport, officials said. The tourists had contracted for the cab through the airport’s official taxi service.
Authorities were investigating whether more members of the gang had infiltrated the service.
