Wisdom on the New Cathedral: Let It Be

Regarding the new Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, hasn’t anyone heard of “beating a dead horse”? The building is built. The money is spent and can’t be taken back and spent somewhere else. Store lessons for the future and make whatever good we can of what we have.

I just wish people would stop saying “built to last 500 years” (Sept. 3). This is still California, and that phrase feels like deliberately teasing a God who has a habit of shaking us up to remind us that humility is still a virtue.
