Afghan warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has expressed grief over last week’s car bombing in Kabul, the capital, but reiterated a call for holy war against U.S.-led “aggressor forces,” an Afghan news agency reported.

“We are as grieved and saddened by the martyrdom of people in the Kabul explosion as we were by the martyrdom of thousands of our countrymen in the inhuman and brutal bombing of the United States,” the Pushtun warlord said in a recorded message provided to the independent Afghan Islamic Press. The bombing killed 26 people. Afghan officials accused Hekmatyar of involvement.
