Blast, Gun Battle Leave 4 Palestinians Dead
Four Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip, three in an explosion at a home and one in a firefight with Israeli soldiers.
The blast tore through a two-story house in Beit Lahia, killing a member of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement, a member of the militant Islamic Jihad group and a third man. Residents said they believed that the men might have been preparing a bomb that accidentally went off.
Meanwhile, a battle between Israelis and Palestinians in the town of Rafah killed a gunman from the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a militia linked to Fatah, Palestinian doctors said.
