Hitting the Wrong Note

In her review of Aug. 25 (“Simply Irrepressible”), S. Irene Virbila refers to “two bartenders wield[ing] cocktail shakers like marimbas.” I think she must have been thinking of maracas, not marimbas. A marimba is a wooden-keyed, xylophone-like instrument; it would take a Hercules to shake one over his head. Maracas are gourd-shaped instruments shaken to make the characteristic rattle-like sound.
