Voices of Democracy

Re “Two Teachers Placed on Leave Over War Posters,” April 2: It is actions like this that make me wary of the direction our country is headed -- a country that is fighting to uphold democracy in this world and whose fighters are patriots preserving the Constitution and all that is good with this country. However, when school administrators are unwilling to teach our young people to uphold the very basis of democracy, that of the people’s freedom to have their voices be heard, then what are we proud of in America? It is unfair to deprive youth of a voice just because it is in opposition to our government’s viewpoint.
