You May Be in Good Spot

Santa Anita offers four maiden claimers on its eight-race card today, but Keeneland’s main event features two Grade I winners.

You, who won three Grade I races last year -- the Las Virgenes and Santa Anita Oaks in Arcadia and the Test at Saratoga -- will race 2001 Acorn winner Forest Secrets and five others in the $125,000 Madison at seven furlongs.

Owned by Ed Gann and trained by Bobby Frankel, who teamed to win Saturday’s Oaklawn Handicap with Medaglia d’Oro, You will be making her first appearance in something other than a Grade I in almost two years. A loser of five in succession since her gutsy victory over Carson Hollow in the Test last July 27, she will break from Post 4 under jockey Jerry Bailey.

Race of the day: Theology, a 3-year-old daughter of Skip Away who overcame a horrible start to break her maiden with ease in her debut on March 9 at Gulfstream Park, will try for a repeat in today’s fifth at Keeneland. The $56,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles drew eight others.

Who’s hot: The holders of the three winning tickets in Sunday’s local pick six. Reportedly purchased at Los Alamitos and through the wagering hubs of Ohio and New York, the tickets were each worth more than $661,000.

Who’s not: Four of the trainers in today’s first at Santa Anita. Joe Glorioso, John Dolan, Susan Bump and Jim Cassidy are a combined two for 90 at the meet.

Exotically speaking: A pick three using Quick N Fancy and Boonesboro Beach in the first, Last Tango and Go On Baby in the second and singling Starring Willy in the third.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/217. Money: Previous day/meet total: $10.80/$1,223.80. Total money bet: $1,290.
