Bush Delays May 5 Visit to Ottawa
President Bush has postponed his planned May 5 trip to Ottawa, but Canada denied that the delay had anything to do with tensions between the two nations over the Iraq war.
Prime Minister Jean Chretien, who has criticized Bush’s policies on Iraq, announced the postponement during a visit to the Dominican Republic. His spokeswoman, Frederique Tsai, said officials would be working together to set a new date.
U.S. Ambassador Paul Cellucci has voiced disappointment over Canada’s refusal to join the war effort.
