Half Brother of Suharto Gets 4 Years in Fraud
From Times Wire Reports
A court convicted the half brother of Indonesia’s ousted dictator Suharto on embezzlement and fraud charges, and sentenced him to four years in prison.
Prosecutors accused Probosutedjo of taking $11.2 million from a state reforestation fund from 1994 to 1997. They say he obtained the money by overstating the size of his timber estate on Borneo island and the number of trees he had planted.
Probosutedjo, 72, also was ordered to repay the $11.2 million.
