Renewing the spirit of the season

I want to thank Barbara King for “Drawn In to the Season, in Spite of Myself” (Dec. 4). I lost my mother four days after Christmas and the day before my birthday. The entire season seemed to lose its magic for me and my sister. This year, however, I am trying! Yesterday, I put up my skinny Charlie Brown Christmas tree from Restoration Hardware and draped a pine garland on my pipe railing staircase. It feels good.

Keep it up, and merry Christmas.
