Older Screenwriters Lack Support

Share

Older screenwriters are claiming that they are being discriminated against in Hollywood, one of the largest bastions of liberalism (“Judge Dismisses TV Writers Suit,” Jan. 22).

Where are the organized protests? Where are the calls for diversity? Why is there not an affirmative-action plan set up where each studio ensures that it has a certain number of older screenwriters on hand?

I can tell you why: because it would hurt the bottom line. Supposedly, the older writers do not connect with the younger audience that has money to spend.

So while the liberals talk a good talk about diversity and fairness, and try to force those beliefs down everyone else’s throat, when it comes to their own income or lifestyle those ideals go right out the window.
