Ruling Party Calls for Rejection of Peace Deal

Ruling party lawmakers urged Ivory Coast’s legislature to reject a peace pact as rebels warned they would attack the nation’s principal city, Abidjan, rather than renegotiate the deal.
The wrangling came as the army and rebels traded accusations of attacks -- the first since the French-brokered deal was signed two weeks ago.
Ivorian Patriotic Front representative Dalaba Zozore, reading a statement by ruling party members in the National Assembly, said the accord “legitimizes” a four-month uprising by rebels who have captured half of the West African country.
