U.S. Interests Section in Baghdad Is Closed
From Associated Press
WARSAW —
Poland has temporarily closed the section of its Baghdad embassy that has represented American interests in Iraq since the 1991 Persian Gulf War, officials said Friday.
The U.S. interests section was closed Thursday at Washington’s request, a Foreign Ministry statement said. But the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw said Polish officials cited security concerns as the main reason for their decision.
Neither the embassy nor the ministry would say how long the interests section will remain closed.
