Fighting between Russian government troops and rebels killed six Russians in the breakaway republic of Chechnya.
Meanwhile, Mikhail Babich, who was appointed in November to head Chechnya’s government, said he has resigned. Babich has had a dispute with his superior, Akhmad Kadyrov, the chief of the Moscow-backed administration, over personnel issues.
