PEACE AT LAST? Never mind lofty ideals about the art of film; Oscar campaigns the last few years have been bare-knuckle battles, most often between archrivals Miramax and DreamWorks. But partly because the latter isn’t in best picture contention, it’s been a quiet campaign season so far. With Miramax overwhelming the competition with 40 nominations, the studio battle now is for the second place position, between DreamWorks and Universal’s Focus with 11 nominations apiece, and Paramount and New Line, with 10 and nine, respectively.
