FOLLOWING THE MONEY: The box office bounce that nominations supply shouldn’t do much for “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,” which has grossed almost $321 million in the U.S. “The Pianist,” with a little more than $9 million, should gain the most. While box office gross is supposed to take a back seat on Oscar day, if you’re making predictions based on receipts, here’s how the rest of the field unfolds: “Gangs of New York” has pulled in about $70 million; “The Hours,” roughly $22 million; and “Chicago,” close to $64 million.
