Norm Chow, USC’s offensive coordinator, said Tuesday that he had no interest in replacing Dennis Erickson, who left Oregon State to become the coach of the San Francisco 49ers.

Chow, who in December, turned down an offer to become the coach at Kentucky, said he was happy at USC and did not expect to be contacted by Oregon State officials.

“It’s always flattering if someone calls,” Chow said. “But I do not have any interest. None whatsoever.”

Bob De Carolis, Oregon State’s athletic director, said he had no timetable to hire Erickson’s replacement.

New Orleans Saint assistant Mike Riley has reportedly expressed interest in becoming Oregon State’s coach for the second time.

Riley went 8-14 in 1997 and 1998 in Corvallis before leaving to become coach of the San Diego Chargers.

Tim Lappano, Oregon State’s offensive coordinator, also is interested in succeeding Erickson, who was 31-17 at the school.

“The Niners made a good hire -- they got a guy with NFL experience and success at the college level,” USC Coach Pete Carroll said. “It’s going to be a challenge for Oregon State to come up with a guy that will be just as effective as Dennis Erickson.”
