Another North Coast community is on the EBay auction block.

But if you want to own Carlotta, you’ll really have to shake the piggy bank. The minimum bid is $1.07 million.

About a month ago, the nearby town of Bridgeville was offered on EBay, a popular online auction site.

The seller asked $770,000 -- but wound up making about $1 million more.

Carlotta is on California 36 in Humboldt County, much closer to the coast and the city of Eureka than Bridgeville is.

Angelo Batini bought the 33-acre town in 1995, mainly to provide more parking for his Carlotta Hotel.

The hotel burned to the ground that year.

“I’m 70 years old and I’m about out of gas,” Batini said. “It’s too much to do.”

Carlotta features a bar and restaurant, a hair salon and several residential rentals, including four houses.

There are two shops, a large storage building and some heavy equipment. There’s also a post office.

Batini said he isn’t going to worry about the town finding a buyer.

“If it does, it does,” he said. “If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”
