There’s No Love for the Davis Cup

Share

The Davis Cup has become an embarrassment for U.S. tennis fans. For the second time in three years, the U.S. team was eliminated in the first round, after being routed, 4-1, by Croatia last weekend.

The United States, which has not won the Cup since 1995, played without the services of Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras, who elected not to compete. It’s time for the U.S. to get out of taking part in the Davis Cup, as long as its top-ranked players continue to ignore the tournament.
