Giving Robocar a Push

Share

Re “No Drivers Wanted in Race for $1 Million,” Feb. 21: I hope the designers of Deep Junior, the IBM chess machine that just played the sensational rematch with world chess genius Garry Kasparov, hear of the robocar contest and sign on. The robocar challenge seems to be much more of a computer problem than an engineering one. The Deep Junior team consisted of programmers, not grandmasters, as you remember. They had to program Deep Junior to respond to zillions of possibilities. Which seems what robocar will have to do. I’d put my money on them.
