Beth Marion, 90; Leading Lady in Westerns of the ‘30s

Beth Marion, 90, a leading lady opposite 1930s B-western movie heroes, died of undisclosed causes Feb. 18 at her home in Jacksonville, Ore.

Between 1935 and 1938, Marion co-starred in a dozen westerns, including “Between Men” with Johnny Mack Brown, “Phantom of the Range” with Tom Tyler, “Silver Spurs” with Buck Jones, “Fugitive Sheriff” with Ken Maynard, and “Trail of Terror” with Bob Steele.

Marion, whose parents were actors, was born in Clinton, Iowa, in 1912. Before moving to Hollywood, she modeled and acted in little theater around Chicago.

Marion retired from films in 1938 after marrying stunt man Cliff Lyons, whom she later divorced. She married architect Julian Koch in 1955.
