Drawing on 2002

Share

Was it the year that the United States lost its way or came together as a nation? Corporate scandals, pedophile priests, the war on terrorism. We tightened our borders and our belts. We worried about our security, our pensions, our gas-guzzling ways.

Today we review the year as seen through the prisms of two cartoonists.

Michael Ramirez, editorial cartoonist for The Times, joined the paper in 1997. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1994.

Paul Conrad, winner of three Pulitzers, was The Times’ chief cartoonist from 1964 to 1993.
