From Times Wire Reports

Valentin Moiseyev, a former Russian diplomat convicted of spying for South Korea, has been released from prison after completing his sentence, his lawyer said. He was freed Tuesday from a hospital where he was being treated for gastric problems, lawyer Anatoly Yablokov said.

Moiseyev’s 1999 conviction was widely criticized by human rights advocates, who said his was one in a surge of espionage cases against people who associate with foreigners, including journalists and academics.
