Lincoln’s Legacy

Something ought to be done about the large, ill-positioned bust of Abraham Lincoln at the corner of 1st Street and Grand Avenue in L.A. The base upon which it is mounted is ugly, as well. Now that state funding of improvements for Grand Avenue adjacent to the Music Center has fallen through and Sen. Trent Lott has been deposed, perhaps it is time for local Republicans to finally take some responsibility and come to the rescue of the Great Emancipator.
