Protester Wounded; Chavez Hardens Stance

A man was hurt by a gunshot in clashes between rival Venezuelan protesters and police as President Hugo Chavez condemned leaders of a 6-week-old opposition strike as “terrorists” and said he would not negotiate.
Chavez’s comments appeared to be a hardening of his position and came after skirmishes in Caracas. In those clashes, police fired tear gas and shotgun pellets to repel pro-Chavez militants hurling rocks and bottles who moved to attack anti-government protesters.
