The federal government filed a lawsuit alleging deceptive advertising by companies that make or market a diet pill promoted as a “powerful, all-natural fat magnet.”

The public spent about $30 million on the diet products containing D-glucosamine that were sold via infomercials on cable television channels, the Federal Trade Commission said.

The suit contends Slim Down Solution of West Palm Beach, Fla., and related companies marketed the pills without substantiating the claims.
