Buses Crash Head On, Killing at Least 70
From Times Wire Reports
A crowded bus swerved into oncoming traffic on Cameroon’s main highway, sparking a five-vehicle pileup that killed at least 70.
The 32-seat passenger bus, passing slower vehicles, smashed into an oncoming bus carrying 70 people late Sunday, according to police official Jean-Bienvenu Abanda. Three cars then hit the wreckage.
Both buses were traveling at high speeds, he said. The crash occurred 100 miles west of the capital, Yaounde, on a two-lane road that links it with Douala, a crucial market and port.
