Chorus Against Peace Deal Grows; French Flee

Ivory Coast’s days-old peace accord neared collapse as ruling party officials and others joined the army in opposing the deal and hundreds of French citizens fled, fearing continued violence.
In Paris, authorities said they were ready to evacuate their 16,000 citizens, targeted by rioters who say the French-brokered plan to end civil war gives too much power to rebels.
