Update -- Seattle has not let Los Angeles run away from the rest of the Western Conference. With its 76-72 victory over Washington on Thursday, the Storm is only three games behind the Sparks in the standings. Forward Lauren Jackson has moved to the top of the WNBA scoring list, averaging 19.7 points a game. The Sparks have had a week to contemplate the loss to Sacramento last Saturday, their second consecutive defeat at Staples Center. The other loss was to Seattle on June 19. The Sparks’ Tamecka Dixon, who this week was chosen to be an All-Star for the third time, has averaged 16.3 points the last six games.
