Protesters Storm Pakistani Embassy
A mob of several hundred protesters stormed the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, breaking windows, ransacking offices and forcing diplomats to hide in the basement, officials and witnesses reported. The Pakistani ambassador, Rustam Shah Mohmand, closed the embassy in protest and demanded to know why the Afghan government failed to protect it.
The attack took place during the second day of demonstrations against recent border clashes with Pakistani troops. Afghan President Hamid Karzai expressed sorrow at the attack.
