Jayson Blair to review film on plagiarism

Share

Esquire magazine has hired Jayson Blair, the New York Times reporter who was fired for plagiarizing and fabricating material, to review an upcoming film about a fellow perpetrator of journalistic fraud.

Editor in chief David Granger said he liked the idea of having Blair weigh in on “Shattered Glass,” about Stephen Glass, who fabricated 27 of the 41 articles he wrote for the New Republic. “We thought it was a clever way to do a movie review, to have the most infamous fabricator review another infamous fabricator,” Granger said in a statement Friday. The piece will run in November as that month’s “Man at His Best” column.

Blair also will write about workplace pressures for Jane magazine, according to the New York Post.
