From Times Wire Reports

A law officer charged with stealing debris from the space shuttle Columbia took nothing but useless “junk,” the man’s lawyer said at the start of his federal trial.

Prosecutors were challenged to prove the debris that Robert Hagan II, 46, had was worth anything. The government alleges that Hagan, who took part in the debris search, stole property valued at $1,000 or more.
