Verminous Depiction

It was disappointing to see The Times publish Michael Ramirez’s editorial cartoon (Commentary, June 1) depicting Saudi Arabia as a giant rat. This imagery is reminiscent of cartoons in Germany of the 1930s that routinely depicted Jews as vermin. It’s a shame that The Times participates so thoughtlessly in our country’s drift to fascism under President Bush.
