Rain Forecast Delays Reopening of Interstate

Share
From Times Wire Reports

Storm clouds that threatened to dump more rain in Vail stalled the reopening of Interstate 70 through Colorado’s mountains.

The state’s busiest east-west highway has been closed since Sunday, when rain and melting snow overwhelmed a mountain creek, washed out a culvert and opened a car-sized sinkhole in the road.

Crews worked to repair the highway and prepare an access road across the median that will connect the westbound lanes with eastbound lanes, which will carry two-way traffic around the sinkhole beginning today.
