Minister Ousted Over Same-Sex Ceremonies
From Times Wire Reports
A Presbyterian minister who continued to marry same-sex couples despite the denomination’s order forbidding gay marriages was ousted from the clergy by a church council.
Members of the presbytery, a cluster of Presbyterian churches in the Cincinnati region, voted to remove the Rev. Stephen Van Kuiken from his ministry at Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati and from membership in the Presbyterian Church.
“I am grieving right now,” said Van Kuiken, 44, a minister for 19 years.
