Girlfriends plus shopping equal perfection

In the role of Bridget Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco faces off against her TV dad, played by John Ritter, on ABC’s “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.” But this active actress usually takes life at a gallop. During her “summer break” she’s acting in “The Hollow,” a horror film now in production. But there’s still a little time for relaxing.

Vegging out

If I’m not working, I start my weekend on Friday night -- sitting on my couch, watching TV, drinking tea -- just totally vegging out. I could do that every weekend.

Of course, there are times when I want to catch up with my friends. I love going to dinner with a bunch of girlfriends. We usually go to BJ’s in Westlake Village. I always reserve a table in the corner, somewhere so that we can be loud and annoying and just have fun.

Then we have dessert. They make this thing called the pizookie. It’s a huge cookie spread with almost melted ice cream. You can get it in chocolate or white chocolate, with all kinds of toppings. It’s so good. We always end up getting 10 of them, then sampling each other’s.

Working it off

I’m a huge gym fanatic. I take a kickboxing or a spinning class three times a week. There are about 50 people in the class. I wear sweats and a hat when I work out. A lot of people wear all of these spandexy clothes. I’m like, ‘You’re not really riding a bike outside!’ All I want to do is have a good workout, so sweats work for me.

I usually try to skip breakfast, or I drink my breakfast. I drink a lot of coffee, so I may run over to the Coffee Bean or I may go to Jamba Juice. It’s the decision of a lifetime -- do I want caffeine or do I want sugar? If I have coffee for breakfast, I’ll have Jamba Juice for lunch.

Happy trails

I’m a real animal freak. After breakfast I go riding. Saturdays are definitely my riding days. I have a new horse named Beau. He’s a former thoroughbred and stands 17 hands high. I feel really small when I ride him, but he’s well-schooled and it’s so relaxing. Now he’s really spoiled. When he sees me coming he’s looking for his carrots. But that’s OK.

I board Beau at Rancho de las Palmas near Thousands Oaks. Sometimes my mom will ride with me, sometimes my dad, but I ride by myself as much as I can. Actually, I’m still learning, so I take private lessons because I want to start showing next year. I need to be able to jump fences and everything.

Shopping nights

Saturday night I may spend time with my boyfriend. You won’t see us at a party or a club. We’ll just watch a movie or something. Sometimes I’ll go to my best friend Ashley’s for the weekend, and we’ll meet up with other friends at Hollywood & Highland. We might shop -- I love to shop. I really love those funky little vintage shops on Melrose and Fred Segal. I even shop at the Nordstrom in Thousand Oaks. And I’m buying jeans and tanks, that’s what I live in.

Family day

I have a huge family, so we see each other on Sundays. They’ve all been so supportive -- they keep me grounded. Sometimes my mom cooks, but a lot of times we go out for dinner on Sundays. We’ll go to California Pizza Kitchen in Encino -- I’ll get the Chinese chicken salad -- or we might go to Piatti in Westlake. Sometimes we go to Marmalade Cafe in Westlake Village, and I’ll get the Chinese chicken salad again. I love it. And that makes a perfect end to a perfect weekend.
