17 Iranian Exiles Under Investigation for Terror
French judges put 17 suspects under investigation for links to terrorism in a crackdown on an Iranian exile group that has triggered protests in several European capitals, officials said.
Those placed under investigation -- one step short of being charged -- include Maryam Rajavi, a co-leader of the Moujahedeen Khalq, according to judicial officials.
Police raided the group’s offices near Paris on Tuesday. France’s counterintelligence chief said the group, which opposes Iran’s ruling clerics, was planning attacks on Iranian diplomatic missions in Europe.
